Our Heritage
Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens has been caring for families for nearly 65 years. It was the vision of Thomas and Ann Moll to exquisitely transform 80 acres of rolling farmland on the south edge of Freeport, Illinois. Tom, Ann and their family have built a magnificent memorial garden park based on their firm devotion to God, family and community. Today, over 10,000 families have placed their trust in Chapel Hill.
Our Vision
Tom and Ann believed in a new vision: a “memorial park” concept which calls for all grave markers to be set flush with the lawns. They felt this style of cemetery offers a more comforting and peaceful setting that would accentuate life and the promise of a new beginning – rather than an ending and death.
They also appreciated the idea that all people would remain equal… that is, no one person would have a monument that towered over smaller surrounding monuments.
Chapel Hill is still privately owned, operated and maintained today by the children and grandchildren of Tom and Ann Moll. The same integrity and ideals that were the foundation of Chapel Hill in 1951 continues today through the second and third generations.
Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens has adopted and adheres to official Rules and Regulations that are necessary to secure uniformity, protect the interests of the lot owners, and to preserve the beauty and proper operation of the cemetery. These rules and regulations apply to everyone who enters the cemetery premises. No rule or regulation has been made, or will be made, which is not designed to be of benefit to our lot owners collectively.
